unidentified gull (G. James)
(Whilst the yellow legs and lack of streaking on head and neck suggested this was a Y-L Gull, doubts have been raised because there is no obvious red orbital eye-ring and mantle tone is very near to that of Herring Gull. One suggestion has been that this is an omissus-type Herring Gull, which do have yellow legs, but the wing pattern and head-shape seem wrong. Another suggestion has been Lesser Black-backed x Herring Gull. Opinions would be appreciated.)
The general opinion is that it is either a female Herring Gull of the race 'omissus' or a hybrid. (many thanks to those who put forward their suggestions to its ID). Graham
